WAITING ON THE WORLD TO CHANGE

The name of the song that I have chosen is Waiting On the World to Change. The author is John Mayer, and it was written as the lead single from his third studio album, Continuum, and was released on August 1, 2006.
John wrote this song because he was unhappy with the country's leaders and it was like a song for all young people of his generation to do something to change the situation. In the song he also talks about the current world conditions. However, he attributes this passivity to a lack of power. We can see that in the sentence: “now we see everything that's going wrong, with the world and those who lead it, we just feel like we don't have the means, to rise above and beat it.” He also laments the corruption among leaders and he demonstrates it in this next sentence:” It's not that we don't care, we just know that the fight ain't fair.”
I have chosen this song because, without a doubt, it was the one that captured my attention the fastest. When reading it directly it spoke of the war and the conditions of our planet and said that we cannot wait for the world to change, but that we have to be the ones who change it. I agree that the politicians and the people who are in power and have the materials and means to try to improve the situation don’t do anything. So I feel that this is an appeal to all young people, so that in our future generations this does not happen.
Lyrics:

Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you've got
Because when they own the information
They can bend it all they want
That's why we're waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
And we're still waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is going to rule the population
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
Now we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change...
